The Brew Crew was proud to be a sponsor of the Eastern Surfing Association’s 50th anniversary celebration. Surfing is deeply tied into the Outer Banks culture and the ESA’s love for the sport and their effort to preserve and protect the shoreline and coastal environment is something we are thrilled to be apart of.
During the kick-off event, hundreds gathered from the surfing industry to celebrate this milestone and to premiere their new documentary “50 Years Strong”. This year’s film hit close to home with its dedication to the late Mikey McCarthy, an Outer Banks legend, surf photographer and champion of the sport. The documentary showcases the founding days of ESA and shows what the organization has meant to amateur surfers all over the east coast. Former ESA competitors Kelly Slater, CJ Hobgood, Cory Lopez, Shea Lopez, Ben Bourgeois, Wes Laine, along with local pros, Noah Snyder and Jesse Hines are also featured in the film.
“It was nice to include the best surfers in the world talking about their experiences coming up in the ESA,” said Michelle Sommers, the ESA’s executive director. “Everyone was excited for this milestone and wanted to be a part of it.”
