Plastic Ocean Project has teamed up with Surfrider OBX Chapter with a new initiative to recognize local businesses for their efforts in curbing the single-use plastics used in their establishments. The first step is to only offer straws upon request. Over 500 million straws, enough to fill 127 school buses, are used every day in the USA for only a few minutes. Eventually, some of these straws end up in our oceans. So please skip the straw!
